The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) issued stamps to highlight the Philippines as one of the world’s center of marine biodiversity. The country boasts an abundant coral reef showcasing the vast variety of marine life.
The Philippine Marine Biodiversity stamps features eight (8) unique designs in triangular format which will be the first of its kind in the Philippines.
PHLPost issuance of the triangular stamps is in line with its participation in the World Philatelic Exhibit from August 2-14 which is being held at the Siam Paragon Shopping Complex in Bangkok, Thailand.
The International philatelic event has attracted postal administrations around world to exhibit their best collections and issuance of stamps under the auspices of the Federation International De Philatelie (F.I.P.). More than 130 stamp booths from local and international stamp entrepreneurs participated in the week-long festivities.
PHLPost has printed 10,000 pieces of stamps and 5,000 copies of it goes to Thailand for the sale and exhibit. Local and International stamp collectors will have the rare chance to buy these limited items featuring our rich marine resources found in Philippine waters. The logo of Thailand 2013 was imprinted at the center of the triangular stamps.
The marine species featured in the stamps are the Lemon Goby, Dragon Wrasse, Spotted Puffer, the three-spot Angelfish, the white –tailed Damsel fish, the Orange Sea Perch, the Lemonpeel Angelfish, and the electric-blue Damsel.
The stamps are now available at the Manila Central Post Office in LiwasangBonifacio and all PHLPost regional offices national.
