Thailand’s first postage stamps appeared in August 1883, Waterlow and Sons recess-printing printing different designs and using different colours to denote the values: solot (½ att), att, sio (2 atts), sik (4 atts) and salung (6 atts).
The stamps portrayed King Chulalongkorn, the king of The King and I.
I have a stamp of Siam/green in color, and the, front face of a man it has 50 in the right hand corner
can you tell me anything about this stamp????
Hi Wanda
A lot of Thai/Siam stamps are of the King, if you can work out what King it is then you will have a good chance of finding more detail, the King above is the 5th King known as Rama 5. The same King shown in the movie “King and I”, there are stamps of him facing front and some can be of rather high value
Follow Up: The current King is Rama 9 and has been king for over 60 years so there are a lot of stamps with his face on them in many forms
