At the instigation of H.S.H. Prince Albert II, the Principality of Monaco marks Universal Children’s Day every year on 20th November. It was on this date in 1989 that the international Convention on the Rights of the Child was ratified by the UN General Assembly. The Department of Education, Youth and Sport organises an awareness campaign in schools on the theme of the Rights of the Child. Numerous activities are held in order to raise money to help children whose most basic rights are not respected.
