Hungary became a republic in November 1918 and contemporary stamps of the Harvesters, Parliament, King Karl and Queen Zita types were overprinted Köztársaság (Republic) diagonally.
The basic 50ft. stamp, portraying Queen Zita, was issued at the end of August, 1918.
