Refers to printings of colonial stamps printed in London as distinct from paintings of the same stamps, which were made in the colony itself. Among the better known are the early issues of New Zealand, South Africa and Western Australia. Various differences of paper, shades, perforation or watermark may assist collector in determining to which printing a stamp may belong.
