Today (7th April 2009) at Spink stamp collectors were presented with a rare opportunity to bid for an item formerly owned by Her Royal Highness The Queen in the Great Britain Stamps & Postal History Auction.

The 1840 Two Pence Blue magnificent block of twelve, formerly part of the Royal Philatelic Collection, fetched £207,100. It was sold to an anonymous collector bidding on the telephone.
