The same designs as the 1926 Tunisia series were retained for a series recess-printed by the Institut de Gravure and released in January 1931.
Apart from the different characteristics of the two processes the designs differ in major details, principally in the engraving of the value tablets and the position of the crescent and star emblem.
A number of provisional surcharges were applied to series between 1937 and 1941.
