The envelope or wrapper. A stamp retained on the whole envelope is “on original cover,” or “on entire.” If only a portion of the cover remains, the stamp is described as “on piece” (of cover, wrapper, etc.). An envelope or wrapper which has been carried by air mail is a “flown cover.”
