An expression used by auctioneers and dealers to indicate the lot or stamp is sold without their usual guarantee and therefore is not returnable. The expression does not necessarily mean that the item is not genuine, merely that the dealer, perhaps because of lack of knowledge, is unable to express a definite opinion and the buyer must make his own decision and act accordingly.
