Three rare stamps dating from the 19th century could fetch as much as half a million pounds at a show set to take place in Islington next month.
The show, called Stampex, brings together collectables from dealers and specialists across Europe. It will be the first time three variations of the one pound stamps – all in mint condition – have been sold together.
Among the rarest in the UK, it is estimated they could go for £500,000.The near unique items were first released in 1878, exhibition organisers said, when one pound would have been worth significantly more than it is today.
AUTUMN STAMPEX 2015, run by the Philatelic Traders Society, takes place at the Business Design Centre, Islington, London, United Kingdom, from September 16-19.
