Stamps of Tuscany: 2 Soldi (1864)

In connection with a tax on newspapers a 2 soldi stamp was issued in October 1864.The fee covered not only the government tax but the postage but the postage on newspapers transmitted by post.
The circular stamp was typographed in black on yellowish paper framed with faint pink lines.
The tax on newspapers was suppressed by the provisional government in November 1859.
