Stamps-India-Inauguration-New-Delhi-1931

This set of six stamps was issued in February, 1931 to mark the inauguration of New delhi as the new capital of India.

The stamps, featuring famous landscapes of the city, were designed by W. Barr and printed by offset-lithography at the Security Printing Press, Nasik, which produced all Indian stamps from 1926.
This was the first commemorative issue from British india, and by a curious coincidence both Jaipur (March) and Travancore (November) issued commemorative stamps later the same year.
