The Society of Israel Philatelists (SIP) was founded in New York City shortly after Israel became a sovereign state (1948). The Israel Philatelist is the society’s journal that is sent to 1,500 members worldwide. The SIP established a non-profit Educational Fund in 1966 that advances SIP goals and ideals through educational programs. Their Endowment Fund furthers ongoing youth education and ensures the SIP’s financial future. Other society benefits include local chapters (23), study groups (6), slide show programs (125), speakers bureau, new issue service, cover service, handbooks/monographs, exhibition awards, special awards, The George A. Cohen Memorial Library, and an annual convention at a WSP show.
